MSP 205: The Life of Christ and the Early Church: Understanding the New Testament

The Life of Christ and the Early Church

The New Testament describes for us both the life of Jesus, as well as the birth of the Church. This course presents a panoramic view of the New Testament. This course will note the significance of the life of Jesus and how he trained his followers. This course will also help students understand how to read, study, and teach New Testament concepts.

Student Learning Objectives:

Understand the purpose, structure, history, and doctrines of each New Testament book.

The student will be able to explain the main theological themes of the Old Testament and trace the progressive development of these themes through the Old Testament.

Describe the life (birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension) of Jesus our Savior and King.

Summarize the early life of the Church and her ministry.

Identify and apply principles of ministry from Jesus, the apostles, and the early Church as it relates to the local congregation and her ministry locally, regionally, and globally.

Explain and defend key theological doctrines as developed throughout the New Testament.
